Digital SAT Instructor

UCLA Graduate (Summa Cum Laude)

James is a Santa Barbara native and distinguished UCLA graduate who brings academic excellence, clarity, and relatability to his work as an SAT instructor. After excelling on the SAT, James earned admission to the University of California, Los Angeles, where he graduated Summa Cum Laude with a B.S. in Environmental Science and minors in Atmospheric and Oceanic Studies and Food Studies.

James began his tutoring journey in college, where he helped fellow students master challenging material, particularly abstract concepts in computer programming, by breaking them down into clear, understandable steps. His ability to translate complexity into clarity quickly became a defining strength of his teaching style.

Following graduation, James advanced his instructional training and SAT expertise under the direct mentorship of Dr. Kimani Williams, founder of Tutoring Machines. This mentorship equipped him with proven pedagogical strategies and a deep understanding of the Digital SAT, preparing him to uphold the organization’s mission of delivering high-impact, results-driven education.

As a recent graduate, James brings a unique empathy to his work with students. He understands the academic pressure, emotional stress, and uncertainty that often accompany standardized testing and the college admissions process. His approach combines structure, encouragement, and strategic instruction—helping students build confidence, resilience, and measurable improvement.

Looking ahead, James plans to pursue a legal education with the goal of strengthening environmental protections for fragile ocean ecosystems, reflecting his commitment not only to student success, but to long-term positive impact beyond the classroom.
